AI coding assistants are changing how developers write code. But security tools haven’t kept up.
That’s why we built the Endor Labs MCP Server—the connective tissue between the Endor Labs AppSec platform and AI-native IDEs where modern software development happens. With support for clients like GitHub Copilot, VSCode, and Cursor, our MCP Server gives AI coding assistants the deep context they need to not just identify risks, but actually fix them.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s a new standard that lets AI agents call into backend tools for help. Think of it like giving Copilot or Cursor the ability to say, “Hey, can you double-check this for vulnerabilities?” — and actually get a meaningful answer that isn’t LLM guesswork or hallucination.
Our MCP Server connects AI clients to the full Endor Labs' platform:
- Review your code for flaws (SAST)
- Detect secrets exposed in your code
- Scan dependencies for vulnerabilities (SCA)
But here's what makes it different: It doesn’t stop at detection. The Endor Labs MCP Server is the first of its kind designed to help AI fix risks with precision.
A fix-first mindset for AI tools
Today, scanning is fast. But fixing is still hard—it can take days or weeks.
Most tools throw vulnerabilities at developers and walk away. Or they take a guess at a fix using whatever the underlying LLM suggests. Context and data are even more important when working with LLMs to ensure accurate results—otherwise, why not just use ChatGPT?
The Endor Labs MCP Server goes a step further by providing:
- Context-rich findings: We reduce noise by pinpointing real risks, not just matching CVEs to a list of dependencies in your manifest file. No LLM guesswork here either.
- Upgrade insights: When we flag a risky dependency, we also recommend which upgrade to use to avoid breaking changes in your app.
Other tools can’t offer this level of precision because they lack the application context. They don’t know what your code does, how your services talk to each other, or what a safe fix looks like.
We do — and we give that insight directly to your AI tools.
Why we built this
The way software is written has fundamentally changed.
AI code editors like Cursor, VS Code, and GitHub Copilot are quickly becoming the default starting point for developers. Instead of pulling up docs, devs are asking AI questions. Instead of typing boilerplate, they’re prompting LLMs. It’s fast, it’s fluid — and yeah, it vibes.
AI engineer Andrej Karpathy gave this approach a name earlier this year: vibe coding.

And as you might expect, it’s going just great for security:

While developer productivity—or at least code volume—has skyrocketed, quality hasn’t kept up. Vibe coders are missing all sorts of basic security practices. And most security tooling is still trying to catch these issues late in software development pipelines.
What’s next
At Endor Labs we’ve expanded the scope of our AppSec platform to secure the era of vibe coding and AI-generated code. At the core is the context and data customers have always valued to reduce noise, pinpoint real risks, and remediate vulnerabilities faster. And we’ve built a new agentic AI layer above that to facilitate integration into AI workflows and systems.
